Sleeping 7-8 weeks
Fourth of July ... or "Why we Need New Carpet"
We had planned to take out the much dilapidated carpet in the front room after the babies went home. However, the afternoon of the 4th the pups escaped their x-pen in the front room and "holy sh****". So .... the next few days meant ripping out carpet and installing the much needed laminate! The icky "before" pics are attached along with a very festive "Hey .... look at Mom's Knitting! pic
Puppies Trip to Vet 7/3/09
I am behind in updating but I thought I would take advantage of insomnia to post a few pics. The pups went to the vet for shots, worming, microchips and a general update at just shy of 7 weeks of age. I wanted them to have all they needed several days before they went home. They were troopers. My vet commented on how amazingly calm they were. He had a lab the day before who had to be taken in the back and muzzled just to get a shot and these babies did not even budge at shots OR microchips.

The Time Has Come
One of my favorite books growing up was Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go Now. The Narrator tells Marvin "The time has come, the time is now, Marvin K. Mooney you please go now" and proceeds to detail all the ways that Marvin can go. My favorites include the Crunk Car and the Gazoom but he also was offered car, foot, bike and more.
This morning I took the last walk around the garden with my babies behind me. I have always been someone who is not afraid to cry if that is the right thing to do and this morning, the joy of the cool morning and a gaggle of babies combined with the bittersweetness of letting go of the pieces I have of my Essie girl do cause my eyes to sting.
I am excited for each of you my families to get their babies -- some today, some in the coming weeks. I have carefully chosen my homes and feel with confidence these babies will be cherished, adored and bring great honor to both their parents. Please know that there were many who asked, but only a few who recieved in this case!
I know I will probably struggle to say farewell tomorrow. It is not a reflection of how good a home someone is think, merely a reflection of the challenge it is for me to close this chapter in the book. In the end "The time had come, so Marvin went." I know it is time.
